Hannah Waddingham, HoYeon Jung and Zazie Beetz led the star-studded arrivals at GQ’s first-ever Global Creativity Awards in New York City on Thursday night.
Attendees and honorees filed into the Water Street Associates Building to pose up on the red carpet before the ceremony kicked off.
GQ’s Global Creativity Awards honor global creatives across vocations, including tech giants, cutting-edge music makers, and Hollywood’s new breed of auteurs.
Apple CEO Tim Cook, director/actor/rapper Donald Glover and Colombian hitmaker Karol G – who recently slammed the magazine – are among the nine honorees.
In a statement published to GQ on April 3, editor-in-chief Will Welch said he launched the Creativity Awards to celebrate the ‘new, supermodern version of creativity.’
He wrote: ‘Because, over the course of my 20-year career, I have watched creativity go from being a slightly mystical, unattainable, and not-terribly-monetizable attribute reserved for flighty artistic types to what it has become today: the sexiest and most desirable cultural currency of our times.
Welch also noted that ‘having the power to use innovation and art to impact people for the better is cool —and being rich and powerful just ain’t enough anymore.’
Speaking of the honorees, Welch stressed that their aversion to being ‘contained to any one category or discipline’ is what makes them so special.
In choosing who to recognize, the team at GQ narrowed in on ‘multidisciplinary, multi-platform, highly collaborative creators.’
The other nominees include: Squid Game star Hoyeon, Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto, Italian designer Gaetano Pesce, British fashion designer Grace Wales Bonner, skateboarder Tyshawn Jones and director William Strobeck, who works closely with Jones.
HoYeon Jung looked sensational as she posed for photographers in a flowing black strapless gown.
It had a gold and silver floral bodice built like a corset to cinch in her already tiny waist.
The dress gathered at the hips and a skirt with a lengthy train trailed behind her as she made her way down the red carpet.
